For our clients needing a more indepth consultation we do offer limited telemed appointments. Clients can utilize this service between appointments due to a health change or a hospital visit where additional info to interpret your pet’s blood work or tests if desired. If you already have an appointment, we can add additional time when possible to your appointment or change the time to allow for the time needed to review these diagnostics.
Guidelines in species appropriate diets for your pet-in short the answer is the freshest food you are able to provide your pet that muscle test for them. Also know you don’t have to use only one type, you can mix between types from homemade to store bought frozen to gently cooked or cans. The goal is to find the food that maximizes your pet’s health, is viable for you to precur/store/feed, and fits your budget. Since there are so many options we recommend starting with reading about them in our “Ranking Pet Food” and “Fresher Food” Handouts. Once you get a sense of what’s available combined with our testing you can narrow down your search/educating by utilizing the links by Dr Becker, Morgan, and Woodley mentioned above to research specific types as well as the listings at the bottom of the mentioned handouts. Also utilize the natural pet food store’s staff to help refine your search to match the above and the ingredients we find are optimal for your pet.

Self Use Software Balancing Diets Formulators-helps formulate homemade diets
- https://animaldietformulator.com/- this is our preferred as it include Standard Process whole food based supplements
- https://www.petdietdesigner.com/en/
- MCT Oil
- https://secure.balanceit.com/ez/index.php?rotator=NewEz -popular option as it is free but the vitamin mixin utilizes more synthetics ingredients than we prefer and also doesn’t allow for easy substitution of ingredients. Often we suggest starting here to see if you are up for trying any self formulating system.

Dr. Sue Howell discusses how to make bone broth for your pets. This can be a great option for pets that are not able to handle their typical diet under times of stress or for more older debilitated pets. Do consult with your vet as over supplementing with bone broth can lead to constipation and other issues in some pets.
